Time Rift Detectives was a group project made within Unity at university as a vertical slice demo game. We also had to deliver a pitch presentation to industry developers, where our game got the best results in the class.
It's a 2-player co-op VR puzzle game demo. One player is a detective in the present, where the world is in an apocalyptic state, and the other is a time-travelling hitman who needs to eliminate the correct targets to save the future.
In the full game we wanted it to make a fully networked game where both players play in VR, but for the purpose of the vertical slice we ended up with demonstrative scenes of what each player could do, with the detective in VR, and the hitman on PC. We attempted networking and got it partially working, but had to drop the feature due to time restraints.
The detective has to research books to look for clues, match them with data on the terminal screen in front of him, as well as keep the lab safe from dangerous environmental factors as they occur every now and then.
The hitman has to verbally feedback what he sees, and by working with the detective, figure out who to eliminate, or what actions to take, before switching time period.
